How it works
- Find your place. Any street, town, campus or mountain. The square on the map is exactly what goes on the model.
- See it free. In about a minute you can turn your model in 3D, on a table or on a wall, in the real print colours.
- We print and finish it in Utah. Matte plant-based plastic, printed layer by layer, cleaned by hand and checked against your preview. We email you when printing starts.
- It ships in about a week. We pack it to travel safely, and send you tracking when it ships.
Questions
How big is it?
The 20 cm model is a 7.7 inch square plate in an 8 × 8 inch frame. The 25 cm model fits a 10 × 10 inch frame. The 40 cm model is four plates in a 16 × 16 inch frame. The preview shows your model next to a 9 oz Valiant candle jar so you can judge the size.
Will my house, or a famous building, be on it?
Every building on the map is printed. In the City model a house is about 2 mm across, so press + on the map to make your street bigger. Famous buildings are made from the same map data as everything else, so most of them are simple shapes, not detailed sculptures. Turn the 3D preview and look closely: the model is made exactly as it shows.
Why is part of my model flat?
Some places have few buildings on the map, or very gentle hills. The preview tells you when that is the case, so you can move the square or change the size before you buy.
How up to date is the map?
We download the map when you make your preview, and the preview shows the date. New buildings can take a while to appear on the map, so check your preview.
Do the colours look like the preview?
The preview uses the colours of the plastics we print with. Real matte plastic looks a little softer than a screen.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is worked out from your address and shown at checkout before you pay. We ship from Utah, so there are no import fees in the US. Outside the US, your country may charge import tax or fees when the parcel arrives.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, free, until we start printing. Reply to your order email with the change. We email you when printing starts; after that the model is being made just for you and cannot be cancelled.
How do I hang it?
Every framed model comes with the hanging hardware and a short note on how to hang it. The frame can also stand on a shelf.
Does the frame have glass?
No. The front is open, so you see the model itself and nothing can break in the post. Dust it with a soft brush.
How do I look after it?
Dust it with a soft, dry brush. Keep it out of hot cars and strong sun, because the plastic softens when it gets very hot.
What if it arrives damaged?
Send us a photo and we will make it right. Every model is made to order, so please check the preview carefully before you order.
Where does the map data come from?
Buildings, streets, parks and water from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and elevation from public terrain data. Trees from the Meta and World Resources Institute canopy height map (CC BY 4.0); in the US, building heights and roof shapes from USGS 3DEP lidar. Landscape models show forest and water from ESA WorldCover 2021 (contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data).
